first_imgDaniel and partner KristinaDaniel O’Donnell’s dance moves could help Northern Ireland come a step closer to peace.The 53 year old Strictly star is urging both Catholics and Protestants to vote to keep him in the BBC show.Daniel joked: “This might be the first time the Falls and the Shankill vote for the same person.” The singer made his remarks in an interview with BBC NI presenter Stephen Nolan, who quipped back: “You might be able to unite the Catholics and Protestants of Northern Ireland.”Daniel, who recently became a step-grandad, said he was humbled by the huge support he has received so far in the competition.He said he was amazed to hear people were crossing the border each week while others were sending money to friends and family in the North to cast votes for him on their behalf.He added: “Isn’t that amazing? I’ve been very fortunate through the years with the people who have followed what I’ve done and the music. They have been tremendously loyal and supported everything that I’ve done.” Grease was the word for the balladeer and his dance partner Kristina Rihanoff as they did the cha-cha-cha on Saturday night to the song Summer Nights.The couple received their lowest judges’ score to date — 21 out of 40 — and received mixed criticism.Meanwhile, Daniel continues to receive huge support from wife Majella, 55, who tweeted after his performance: “The standard of dancing on BBC Strictly is fantastic. Well done Daniel and Kristina. You did great! Jay McGuiness was excellent. Well done.”Daniel’s 38-year-old dance partner said his efforts continued to inspire huge pride in her as a teacher, adding that ballroom routines suited him better than Latin.Kristina tweeted: “(Daniel) is a non-dancer trying his best.
