first_imgThe ordinance was introduced by Vice Mayor Linda Murphy: “This would make the Mayor a full member of the City Council, bestowing on that position all of the powers and duties of a regular Council Member.” Soldotna Mayor Nels Anderson cast the deciding vote after a 3-3 tie vote amongst the council, at their meeting on Wednesday, July 25. The ordinance, if passed, would have allowed the mayor to actively participate in debates and vote on every motion coming before the body. It would also eliminate the veto power from the Mayor’s role.
