Bob Weir Joins Ratdog, Furthur Members At Benefit Concert [Full Show Video]

first_imgBob Weir joined forces with some of his RatDog and Furthur bandmates for a benefit show and celebration of Music Heals International‘s fifth anniversary at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA, last night. JamBase reports that the Grateful Dead guitarist teamed up with RatDog’s Steve Kimock, Jay Lane, and Robin Sylvester during the show, which also featured Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, Jason Crosby, DJ Logic, Dave Ellis, David Nelson, Matt Kelly, and Weir’s old Furthur bandmates Sunshine Becker and Jeff Pehrson.Weir jumped into the fray during the David Nelson-led part of the show, with the two guitarists sharing a story about their early days on the road before going into “Friend of the Devil”, a cover of Johnny Otis’ “Wille and the Hand Jive”, and “Ripple”. After Nelson and some of his guests made their exit, Weir was joined by Kimock, Lane, Sylvester, Kelly, and DJ Logic, who helped with “Corrina”, a rendition of Little Walter’s classic instrumental “Juke”, Willie Dixon’s “Little Red Rooster”, and “Standing on the Moon”.Finally, Weir and Co. closed out the night with an 18+ minute, saxophone and turntable-infused “China Cat Sunflower”/“I Know You Rider” combo.You can watch the entire performance below, but Weir’s appearance begins around 2 hour and 40 minute mark.Music Heals International 5th Anniversary [Video: Sweetwater Music Hall][H/T JamBase]last_img
