Oxford to host Watermelon Run on Sept. 6 at 7:30 a.m.

first_imgSubmitted to Sumner Newscow — Back by popular demand is the Watermelon Run which will take place Saturday, Sept 6 at 7:30 a.m. in Oxford.   Runners have the option of a 5K run or 2mile run/walk.  The race will start at Oxford baseball/softball fields.Oxford Booster Club will be serving a breakfast starting at 7 a.m. and ending at 10am at the Oxford High School Commons for runners and spectators.  Race entry forms may be found at Oxford Corner Bank, Emerald Bank Oxford, Primarily Plants & Floral, Red Feather Boutique, and at the Oxford City Building.For more information call Nick at 620-218-3339 or email nicholasruyle@yahoo.com or call Red Feather Boutique at 620-455-3814.  Proceeds for the run will be used for construction of the Champeny Sports Complex. A new baseball field was built last year through donations and fundraisers and now the softball girls are anxious for construction to begin on their new field!   The Champeny Fundraising committee invites all runners and walkers to attend and help with this project.Follow us on Twitter.last_img
