Roberto Martinez on claims Everton star set for £33m exit

first_imgEverton manager Roberto Martinez has brushed off reports Romelu Lukaku could be set for a move away from Goodison Park. The Belgian striker has netted 18 goals this season despite his side’s struggles and is reportedly wanted by Bundesliga high-flyers Wolfsburg in a £33m deal. But Martinez does not appear to have any concerns about losing the 21-year-old, who cost the Toffees a record £28m fee from Chelsea last summer.Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the Spaniard said: “It has been incredible to see him develop.“He is only 21 and his goalscoring record is incredible, but I always highlight his attitude, day to day, and wanting to be the best.“You are looking at a player now that can play Thursday and Sunday, he can take responsibility, he can take footballing concepts on.“It has been impressive to see him grow in the last ten, twelve months and obviously we would love to see him grow with us. That would be the objective.“The time he has been having with the team has been very impressive and we are going to see him develop into a special footballer.”last_img
